are there all-natural options for mosquito control?

YAS y’all! When it comes to mosquito control you do have options! For many years, the Queen Bee of Mosquito Control has been using a botanical insecticide from the pyrethroid family, but this year we have added new services to the menu for homeowners looking for mosquito relief without the synthetic chemicals.

We now offer an essential oil spray treatment, using a combination of Cedarwood and Cinnamon oils.

This is a very highly concentrated solution that needs to bee applied with a professional backpack sprayer to all the non-flowering foliage in your yard. Mosquitoes like to rest in shady, cool places, so under leaves and hidden in tree roots are the places we aim for. Like a traditional mosquito fogging, those areas must bee thoroughly treated with the solution and allowed to dry for up to an hour. With the essential oil solution, the mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks are repelled by the smell, which is actually rather light and pleasant to humans, and stay outside the barrier we create around your yard. The treatment should last up to 21 days in normal weather conditions, so this treatment is reapplied every 3 weeks by our worker bees.

The newest non-chemical solution for mosquito bites, is the In2Care Station System. This is a series of traps or stations, positioned strategically around your property to attract female mosquitoes who are ready to lay their eggs. Once they enter the trap, their wings attract a substance inside the trap that prevents larvae from developing, which they then carry with them to other water sources. This system uses the mosquitoes’ own behavior to contaminate breeding grounds. As more larvae fail to develop, the overall mosquito population decreases without the use of chemicals. For more information on how this works you can see a video here. The stations must bee serviced every 4 weeks by a professional to ensure they are functioning effectively for the entire season.
